This is one of the first (and only) recipes my mom ever taught me to make! I was about 9 years old and during the summer I would crave a German pancake for lunch. I remember the cast iron pan being so heavy for my 9-year-old self!

I’m going to have to make a German pancake for my husband this weekend.

yes they eat them in germany! my grandmother used to make them but had the recipe in her head and never passed on any exact measurements. Thank you for this! I can’t wait to make it.

PS. the tomato conserve was way worth making! So delicious.

German pancakes…who knew? In our house it’s a Dutch Baby, baby…but whatever you call it, it’s really, really good.

As for brekkie: I’m a toasted granola, fruit, and yogurt kinda gal. But if I lived in my hometown I guess it would be Bircher muesli, a staple in the Sydney cafe scene — and not that saw-dusty stuff most folks think of when they think of muesli.
