Dinner parties

When they go well dinner parties leave me feeling almost a bit high. Such fun! Such tasty food! What a delight! (Plus, I’m usually a bit tipsy, which comes into play.) Other times, most sadly, they leave me feeling like a stack of dirty serving bowls. And in this case the tipsyness doesn’t help.

Such was the case last night. Oh well. The food was good. Wild rice and mushroom soup (like this one, but with some leftover but homemade sausage thrown in for good meaure), those awesome minty spicy green beans I’ve been making, and a parsley and preserved lemon salad (yes, with meyer lemons I put up from the tree). I was all ready to break open a jar of brandied cherries I put up and pour them over ice cream, but dessert was declined. Yeah, I know, whatever.
